Leadership/Team Building
Throughout the year, I have demonstrated leadership and team-building skills by staying actively engaged in class and taking initiative in my own work. In two group projects and a story that I double bylined, I took the lead on coordinating interviews and guiding each piece through the publishing process. Outside of formal assignments, my peers in journalism class regularly come to me for help, and I speak honestly and directly even when it is not the popular opinion, which I believe is a defining quality of a good leader.
Editing
Although I did not hold an official staff position on Bark this year, I did frequently help peers edit their stories when asked to look them over. While I have no saved examples since the work was done on their computers, I did revisit my own writing from earlier in the year and edited it using the skills I have developed since the start of the year.
